Family Friendly Seafood At Joyden Seafood Restaurant

Looking for a place for affordable seafood? Look no further. Come down to Joyden Seafood Resturant and all your seafood cravings can be satisfied here.

With a new name, interiors facelift and comprehensive revamped menu, the restaurant is all ready to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

Decked out in purple chairs and a wooden flooring, the restaurant gives off a modern look while also appealing to the traditional tastes of customers.

All the utensils were neatly laid out with napkins, wet wipes all available. Service was also excellent, with dirty plates being cleared fast and we had a constant flow of tea as our cup was refilled during the course of our meal.

For our first dish, we had Signature Cereal Prawns. The cereal was really good and the prawns were so fresh and crisp that you could eat the shell. What makes it different from other cereal prawns out there?  The cereal mix  was imbued with shards of kaffir leaves, chili padi, and a smattering of curry powder, so the prawns give off the fragrance of curry.

Next on our list was Steamed Lobster with Glutinous Treasure Rice. Lovers of glutinous rice will definitely enjoy this dish. The rice and lobster are steamed together and the juices of the lobster produce a rich flavour that will leave one yearning for more.

Just look at the lobster meat! It is so juicy and tasty that it is no wonder that this dish is one of the more popular dishes in the restaurant.

The Signature Imperial Oyster Sauce Chicken ($28) is well-worth its price. It is stuffed with chives and garlic cloves before it is roasted then braised with oyster sauce. This produces chicken meat that is very soft and tender and it was easily separated for serving, making it a child and elderly friendly dish.  Yes, it isn’t seafood but with all the marination and effort that is required to prepare this dish, this is certainly a good buy.

We had the Lemongrass Pork Ribs in Crispy Yam Ring. The yam ring is an all time favourite as it is very crisp and brings back memories of family, being a very family oriented dish. The pork ribs is slightly spicy after being sautéed with fragrant lemongrass, ginger flower, chilli, Chinese wine and molasses and makes a good combination with the yam ring.

Besides having the lemongrass flavour, there is also spicy pork ribs and coffee pork ribs. These flavours are tailored to suit different customers such as children who may not be able to take spicy food.

Our meal will not be completed without fish. We were served the Deep Fried Soon Hock Fish in Superior Soy Sauce with Scallions. The fish was nice and crisp on the outside and well complemented with the soy sauce that it came with. There was no fishy taste whatsoever and the clean flavours of the fish made the dish an enjoyable one.

When it comes to fish, customers can choose the type of fish they want and decide on the cooking style. In that sense the preparation of the fish is flexible.

A seafood feast would not be complete without crabs! Joyden’s Signature Creamy Crab features steamed crab steeped in milk and pumpkin puree aromatic with curry leaves, chilli padi and black pepper. The sauce has this natural sweetness and tastes really good.

There are also other favourites such as Supreme Chilli Crab and Classic Black Pepper Crab. For children, Salted Egg Crab would be more suitable.

We ended our course with dessert! Sago and Pomelo in Mango Puree made for a sweet and refreshing dessert after our heavy meal and it went well with the taste buds.

All in all, Joyden Seafood Restaurant is a great seafood place for the young and old and is what I would term family friendly. Having a family feast soon? Come down to Joydean Seafood Restaurant!
