5 things you can find in Tuas

Tuas is almost an uncharted territory to many of us. Predominantly an heavy industrial estate, Tuas has been kept out of the limelight in urban planning until the recent plans and progress in the new Tuas Link MRT Extension, which is going to add 4 new stations in the existing East-West line, replacing Joo Koon as a terminus. However, what exactly is at Tuas? We give you some insights:

1) Industries… and incinerators

Already sounding pretty hardcore and scary, Tuas boasts the largest industrial site in Singapore mainland. Two of the four incinerators of Singapore are also found in Tuas.

2) Tuas Supermarket

Tuas has a supermarket that caters to the workers of the area. I guess the prices of commodities will be lower, considering how Malaysia is just a few stone throws away.

3) Raffles Country Club

Raffles Country Club is found in the far and quiet end of Southwest of Singapore. The Raffles Golf Course boasts a scenic view as designed by world-renowned golf designer Robert Trent Jones Jr.

4) Tuas TV World

An outback to Channel 8’s classic dramas, the Mediacorp Tuas TV World was built to recreate the ambience of a bustling town of 1950s – shophouses, mansions and roads. According to forums, as you move towards Tuas, exit left (either exit 14 or 14A) before the checkpoint and immediately turn left after the exit, will bring you to the area.

5) Tuas Secret Beach

The secret beach is said to have very fine sands and clear waters. If true, it is shocking to know that Singapore’s heaviest industrial site produces a hidden gem like the Tuas South Beach. The natural sunset is said to be rather captivating. You can read up more from this blogger’s particular exploration to Tuas. For people looking to fish, it is said that the area has some sharp granite rock embankments.
